Is Guilt Hard-Wired into Moms?

Fotolia_13482168_XS.jpg

Moms do not want their children to suffer, at all! In fact, we want our children to be perfectly happy, perfectly protected and perfectly well adjusted. We will make many sacrifices toward this unspoken goal.

But, what happens if things don't turn out as expected? We feel guilty. We ask ourselves, "Did I do enough? What did I do wrong?"

We blame ourselves instead of looking at the situation, our child's temperament, and all of the other factors (like, we ARE only human, flaws and all) that effect outcomes.

Hard-wired or not, we can change how we think and replace guilt with productive thoughts that actually make us feel better!
