Mary Scribner and Elizabeth Coplan

Elizabeth Coplan - Creator/Author

Elizabeth Coplan, a semi-retired marketing professional, is the mother of two children (one challenging).  To help make it through the day, she occasionally stops to write about her mothering experiences.  Elizabeth finds life with her challenging child similar to a roller coaster ride.  Her days are colored by tremendous highs, unbelievable lows, and frequent urges to throw up.  Since joining the support group profiled in A Wild Ride, Elizabeth appreciates the highs, understands the lows, and laughs out loud whenever possible.  Read more about Elizabeth.

Mary Scribner - Creator/Author

In her younger years, Mary consistently pushed beyond her own interior boundaries.  From saving wildlife in the jungles of Belize to kayaking the turbulent waters of Costa Rica, Mary navigated difficult terrain as she searched for her life’s work.  She found that her passion lies in motivating and inspiring others to negotiate life based on what is optimum for their situation.  As a Registered Nurse, a Parent Coach, and as a mother, Mary learned to steer through the rocky shoal of parenting.  She lives with gratitude on a peaceful island in Puget Sound, paddling her kayak between frequent rain showers and precious sun breaks.  Read more about Mary.

Karen L. Alaniz - Author

Karen holds a masters degree in education.  She worked for the public school system for fifteen years teaching special education.  For ten years she taught children who had a variety of challenges such as Autism, Downs Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. The remaining five years were spent teaching in a program designed for children with behavior difficulties. The children in the specialized program had such diagnoses as Attention Deficit Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder, and Conduct Disorder.  Karen enjoyed the challenge of working with children whose struggles were real but whose success was possible.  She also enjoyed working with parents to come up with plans for success at home.  Read more about Karen.

Nina Rogozen - Creator

Nina holds a B.A. in Child Psychology and Development and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Education. She worked for many years with children, teens, parents, and families facing difficult issues. Through direct service, project management and writing, Nina has helped people enhance their health and creativity and navigate life in this unstable, unpredictable world. Her life raising two amazing daughters, work as a child and family therapist, and 20 years writing for families, educators, health care professionals, and the public led Nina to co-create A Wild Ride. Though still an editing resource for the site, Nina is now the magazine editor and publications manager for the American Tinnitus Association. In addition, she continues writing for projects that inform, educate and inspire.
